The Process
Your Journey to a Bespoke Ceremony
You may be thinking, "How does a celebrant-led ceremony actually work?" How does this person make my ceremony special? Why is a celebrant-led ceremony so much better than a registrar ceremony?
Well, for ease, I thought I’d give you a mini step-by-step guide to help you understand the process.
How does a celebrant wedding work?
Step 1:
Say Hello
Send me a message, and we’ll arrange a relaxed chat - no pressure, no sales pitch, just check we’re on the same wave.
Step 2:
Getting to know you
If we’re happy with each other’s vibe, I’ll send you the booking form to lock in your exclusive ceremony date. We’ll then have an in-person meeting to talk about your story, your quirks and your vision for the day. Whether you’re planning an outdoor wedding in Hampshire or a cosy New Forest handfasting, this meeting ensures we are the perfect fit to work together.
Step 3:
Dream up your ceremony
Once you’ve booked, the magic starts. I will write your ceremony from scratch. I’ll send you a fun "couple’s questionnaire" to help me dig out those golden nuggets of your relationship. I’ll then draft a bespoke wedding script that perfectly reflects your personalities. You’ll have full creative control, with as many edits as needed until every word feels exactly like "you." If you need help with writing vows, I can certainly help you out there, too. We can bounce ideas around and come up with whatever your and my imagination inspires.
Step 4:
Perfecting
Once your ceremony is taking shape and the words feel right, we’ll walk through it together. We’ll weave in any spiritual elements you’ve chosen, whether that’s handfasting, a unity candle, or wine blending, alongside the moments that matter most to you, until it all flows naturally and feels authentically you. Nothing is off-the-shelf here; this is your gig, your story, told your way.
Step 5:
The Celebration
On the big day, I’m more than just a speaker. I arrive early to coordinate with your photographers, venue staff, and planners to ensure everything is set for the ceremony. I’ll be there to calm your nerves, wrangle the bridesmaids, and ensure the atmosphere is exactly as we planned. From the first "hello" to the moment you walk back up the aisle as a married couple, I’m by your side to make sure your celebrant-led ceremony is seamless, relaxed, and unforgettable.

FAQs
Can we get married legally with you?
1
I’m afraid not yet (but we’re working on it). Your legal bit is done at the registry office, which couples tend to do before their ‘proper’ celebration. The fun, meaningful, personalised ceremony happens with me.
What if the weather turns?
2
I’ve worked in drizzle, sunshine, sideways wind and optimistic British forecasts. We’ll sort out plans A, B, and C, all of them lovely.
Do you travel?
3
Yes, across the South of England and slightly beyond, and even abroad if you bribe me with ice cream.
How long is a ceremony?
4
Usually 30–40 minutes of proper emotion, well-timed humour and smooth storytelling. But it’s entirely up to you, although I find any longer and Uncle Bob starts frothing at the mouth, desperate for a drink!
What’s the difference between a Registrar and a Celebrant?
5
If you’re happy to have a wedding at a set time, in a licensed venue approved by the local council, with a formal, legal guided script from someone you’ve never met for 15/20 mins, then a registrar is for you.
However, if you want your wedding as the sunsets over the Southdowns, whilst lanterns are flickering amongst your guests sitting on hay bales in the middle of a wildflower meadow, listening to your love story told by a new friend who has got to know you well enough to tell your funniest, warmest moments with heart, then a celebrant-led ceremony is perfect.
All you have to do to make it legal is pop to a registry office to complete the paperwork, unless, of course, you choose a commitment ceremony, in which case you can skip this altogether.
Can we include our pets in our ceremony?
6
Absolutely! Dogs, horses, cats, rabbits, you name it, we can include them. It’s your day, so let’s do what you want. I love it when couples want to include their fur babies; we can design the best way to incorporate them into your ceremony. They say never work with animals and children, but I say, “Hey, let’s do it!”
